Days at Sea

We have 2 sea days on this cruise. The first is quite foggy and a little drizzley. Our usual coffee in the cabin then down to the dining room for eggs bennie. They offer a single which is a perfect size for us. A few whales spouting off in the distance. We had bought a weeks pass to the Thermal Suite. ($299.00 for 2) and we've really been enjoying it. Quite a bit larger than the other ships we've been on with the large whirlpool, various showers and saunas along with the heated relaxation loungers. The internet has been pretty good, a week on the "surf" plan is $99.00 or $169.00 for up to 4 devices which is just what we need.

The new "navigator" app on our phones has proved very usefull. The only drawback I find is that if you have your phone with you all the time it's hard to disconnect. But I guess most people don't want to anymore!

Our second sea day is glorious sunshine. We are travelling with the wind and sea so it's smooth and warm. As usual on sea days we do the dining room for breakfast. Hard to beat eggs bennie and a mimosa! One of the things I love about Holland America is the Promenade deck where you can walk around the ship. Because of the size it's only 3 circuits to make a mile. I like to do a mile in the morning and in the afternoon. Between that and all the stairs I get lots of walking in.

There are lots of activities but most of the time we prefer to do our own thing. I did do the line-dance class a couple of times which was a lot of fun. And of course we have our pass to the Thermal Suite which I do twice a day on sea days!

We have attempted to try as many food options as possible. We particularly like the New York deli and pizzeria at the pool area. Great sandwiches and salads as well as pizza.

Both sea days were "Gala nights" which have taken over from Formal nights. Most people still dress up, but the dress code is much looser. We have had our picture taken a few times by the many photograhers, but haven't found a picture we really like yet.
